We are at 100%!

We are thrilled to let you all know that we have officially hit the 100% mark of the budget that Wycliffe has set for us!

We continue to be so overwhelmed by your generosity and by the way that so many of you have been praying for us so faithfully. It is an honor to be a part of a team that has cared for us so well and helped us prepare to get to the field.

What 100% means:

Launch Expense Account

We have now raised the minimum amount necessary to be given the green light to move overseas! At this point, the ball can start rolling to get our visas and plane tickets and finalize plans to be in France for the start of language school. This is such a huge step in the process and gives us a lot more confidence as we continue to move toward that end. Wycliffe would prefer that we continue to raise funds for this account to be sure that we are fully prepared for any unexpected expenses we may encounter. But, we have met the minimum requirement and can begin finalizing plans for the next step in France!

Monthly Ministry Budget

Reaching 100% of this budget means that we have a sustainable income to be able to stay on the field. That is such a reassuring milestone for us. We truly have a burden for those that do not yet have the Bible in their language and we want to work with you to bring Scripture to them. We are so thankful for all of the people that are ensuring we can maintain our ministry for years to come!

However, if you talk to any missionary, they will tell you that developing and maintaining the team of partners that God has put in our life is always a part of what we do. Sometimes people are not able to maintain the level of giving that they once could. The budget can also seem like a moving target, as things like health insurance and retirement contributions are adjusted annually. And, once we get our final assignment, our budget could potentially change again (either an increase or a decrease) to better reflect the location that we will be living in.

So it's not too late! If God is moving you to make an impact on Bible translation in Africa, we would love to partner with you in this endeavor. Any funds that are given at this point help us better prepare for the unexpected expenses we may yet face.

What's Next?

The last year and a half has been a whirlwind, but we've gotten a lot accomplished and are nearing the end of this stage of our Wycliffe ministry! This point used to seem so far away!

Here's a big-picture overview of where we stand right now:

Isn't God good!?

We are praising God that both of our financial goals have been met!

Would you be praying specifically for those items in the red box above?

  1. Our passports are in the mail right now. I needed to renew mine and the kids needed their first ones, so we are currently waiting for those. Thanks to the pandemic, the "estimated waiting times" are all over the place. These need to come before we can schedule our interview to apply for French visas.

  2. France is in the reopening process but timelines for that are equally as unknown as everything else right now. Please be praying that we can be allowed to enter and that the whole process goes as smoothly as possible.

  3. This is a very busy semester for classes. It's a challenge, but it is so reassuring that this is the kind of work I want to do for the rest of my life! I've been known to take a couple of hours to respond to "Tell me about your classes." Please be praying for diligence and perseverance. The final week of classes will be very close (potentially some overlap) to our departure date for France.

We are reminded daily both that we are not in control and that we serve the Creator, who laid the foundation for the earth and confines even the ocean to its limits (Job 38:4,11). So we put our trust in Him.
