Pray for Us

I'll start this post with a short verse from 1 Thessalonians 5.

"Brothers and sisters, pray for us."

That's it. We're just a few short days from moving to our new home in Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire! And for those of you that have been following our journey and want to know how to help, I just ask you to pray.

We've officially been a part of Wycliffe Bible Translators for just over 3 years now and this has almost all been training of various sorts. It's been a long road to be as prepared as possible for where we are now, but we have finally arrived at the start line of the race that is before us. It's incredibly exciting and daunting at the same time.

So here are some ways you can be praying for us:

  1. Transition for the kids. We want to shepherd our kids well through all the joys and challenges that come with this life. We want them to know that they are a part of this ministry and that what they're doing has eternal value. So pray for us as we walk our kids through this next step and into a new home.

  2. Packing. Stuff can be overwhelming, and in these transition times, we're constantly asking ourselves whether a soccer ball is worth the space or if I need all of these shoes. Pray for us as we make decisions and as we figure out the details of available weight/space and preparation for Africa. Pray for wisdom in these things. And pray that we don't forget anything!

  3. Focus and perspective. It's so easy to get distracted by the to-do lists and all the details of traveling. We've been swimming in visa applications, Covid requirements, luggage weight requirements, and travel declarations for the last few weeks, so it's easy to lose sight of the big picture. Pray that our focus rests on things above and not just on things of the earth. If it weren't for what God has called us to and the eternal impact it can have, we wouldn't be doing any of this!

We continue to pray and thank God for all of you. Thank you so much for all the ways you have supported our family along this journey.
